The Cane Toad has detrimental effects to the ecosystem in Australia causing only long term impacts that can only be prevented by diminishing the population of this species in our home lands. Some of the long term effects include:
- There has been reduced numbers of native animals in the wild and national parks. The population of native reptiles are currently decreasing to a point where there is none left.
- Cane Toads eat absolutely everything from dog food to mice and since they have poisonous behind their eyes and back, other animals eat the toads not knowing that it will be their last meal.
- Extinction of native animals.
- These animals are tough little buggers and are able to survive in near all habitats and climates.
- Cane toads are very poisonous. Whether it may be an egg, tadpole or an adult they are all equally as deadly, size does not matter.
- Australian native fauna that have been killed by eating or mouthing Cane Toads include goannas, Freshwater Crocodile, Tiger Snake, Red-bellied Black Snake, Death Adder, Dingo and Western Quoll.
